ALLEGAN, MI (Midwest Radio News) - The jury in the Justin Terpstra murder trial wasted no time at all finding the 25 year old from Kalamazoo guilty on all counts in the Murder of Brandon Silverlight.
The victim, a South Haven Musician and WMU Student who apparently had dated Terpstra’s fiancée before they ever met, died because of their twisted relationship. Tuesday's verdict means mandatory life without chance of parole for Terpstra, when he is sentenced on December 17th.
The prosecution’s best witness was Terpstra himself, who confessed on tape and in considerable detail, reliving the hair-raising and bone chilling ambush, torture and killing of Silverlight, who was finally set on fire in a remote area of southern Allegan county.
The woman in both their lives, Alison Martin was convicted last month and will also be given life without parole when she is sentenced December 1st.
