WEYAUWEGA, Wis. (WTAQ) - The retirement package for the Weyauwega-Fremont School Superintendent is put on hold thanks to a court order and taxpayer questions. School board members were expected to consider the package inc closed session Monday night, which includes $84,000 through the next 3 school years, health insurance and two $12,000 contributions to an annuity. But a Waupaca County judge issued a temporary order preventing the board to meet in closed session.
Parent Tom Fitzpatrick says those private talks are part of the problem. The parents want an upfront discussion about the offer in which Harlan would retire early because of a conflicted relationship with the board. Attorney Tom Maroney is representing board member Neal Loehrke, who filed the preliminary injunction. Maroney insists the board was moving too quickly on this matter. The injunction runs until a court hearing April 15. Meantime the school board will meet Wednesday to discuss their legal issues.
