JACKSON (WKZO) -- He has battled his conviction for years, claiming he wasn’t the man who raped and murdered Patty Rosansky 20 years ago in Battle Creek. Thomas Cress could find out if he will be a free man soon. Another man has confessed to that murder.

The two detectives who investigated the case think he is innocent. Most of the witnesses have recanted. But the physical evidence that might have cleared him was all destroyed by the prosecutor.

Yesterday a parole hearing was held in Jackson, and attorneys made his case. The Parole board will go through the pile of information and make a recommendation to Governor Granholm. It will be her call. He would still have the murder on his record and remain on parole, but supporters say at least he would be free.
