(Lansing, MI) -- Michigan's schools are reportedly in deep trouble, according to a new survey by Michigan School Business Officials that has determined 22-percent of school districts are facing deficits next year. Ninety-six percent of districts are planning to either lay off employees or not fill open positions and 54-percent are expected to eliminate some educational programs. MSBO executive director David Martell said the survey shows the need for, quote, "transformational change, not just in the way we're funded but in the way we deliver services."
