(Allegan, MI - WHTC News) - One of two persons accused in the fiery murder of a 25-year-old South Haven man in a Casco Township field last November waived a preliminary hearing yesterday. Justin Terpstra had been charged with open murder and conspiracy, but he now faces felony murder, kidnapping and torture counts after the presiding judge added those accusations. The delay in the show-cause proceedings against Terpstra was to determine if he was competent to stand trial in the death of Brandon Silverlight. Alison Martin, who is also charged in the case, has also been bound over for trial. Authorities claim that the couple conspired to attack Silverlight, and his charred body was found near a burned-out vehicle. Investigators say that the victim was still alive when he was set ablaze.
