MARSHFIELD, Wis (WSAU) Completion of the peaking power plant in Marshfield is being delayed until September. There have been complications linking the new plant with the power lines in the area. The plant is being built by Marshfield Utilities. The Power lines are owned by American Transmission Company.

The new plant will be powered by natural gas. It's intended to generate electricity at times of peak demand, like during hot spells in the summer when air conditioning taxes the electrical grid.

The plant in the Yellowstone Industrial Complex was supposed to be finished in May.

Marshfield Utilities will sell its ownership in another peaking plant in Marinette to finance the project. Local utility bills will rise between 2-and-3 percent to cover the rest of the costs.
