(Lansing, MI)  --  The state of Michigan is slashing the number of road projects it undertakes over the next five years.  The Department of Transportation's 2010-14 program dropped 243 road and bridge projects.  Declines in gas tax revenues in the state and Michigan's inability to be able to match federal dollars next year caused the decline.  The lobbying group Michigan Infrastructure and Transportation Association immediately called for more money to be put into roads.  MITA has been pushing an increase in gas taxes for several years.
