ALLEGAN, MI (WHTC News) - A mandatory life sentence in prison without parole was handed down to Justin Terpstra on Friday by Allegan County Circuit Court Judge George Corsiglia. The 25-year-old Kalamazoo man was convicted last month of murder and conspiracy in the death of 25-year-old Brandon Silverlight, whose body was found in a burned-out vehicle 13 months ago in a Casco Township field just north of South Haven. Terpstra’s fiancé, Alison Martin, is serving a similar sentence. Authorities claimed that Martin lured Silverlight, a former boyfriend, with the promise of a sexual tryst, and that Terpstra committed the murderous act. Both Terpstra and Martin are appealing their sentences.
