(Allegan, MI - Midwest Communications News) - An outburst in an Allegan County Circuit Courtroom yesterday morning prompted motions for a mistrial in a murder case. However, testimony was allowed to continue against murder suspect Van Buren Hutchison, who is charged with the 1992 rape and killing of a 25-year-old Chicago Heights woman. The body of Jeanette Reeves was found in the Kalamazoo River in the Allegan State Game area months after she disappeared. Her sister stood up in court and shouted out, “We are here, Killer!” as the jury of seven men and seven women were filing out for a short recess. Judge George Corsiglia ordered them to disregard the comment and banned Joyce Reeves from attending the rest of the trial, which should run through the end of the week.
