(South Haven) - Investigators believe that magazines and newspapers near a faulty space heater sparked a house fire in South Haven that killed a man in his 50’s yesterday morning. Crews had to extinguish the flames at the residence on Phillips Street before discovering the body of Doyle Hamlet, who apparently had been renting the home for over a year. There was a smoke detector in the building, but no battery inside. An autopsy is slated to determine cause of death.
