In an earlier post I shared with you comments made by entertainer Jamie Foxx at the most recent Soul Train Awards where he said "First of all, give an honor to God and our lord and savior Barack Obama. Barack Obama." Not only was that blasphemous but it was also incorrect as the only proclaimed "savior" is Jesus Christ. But I guess that it's ok to disparage the Christian savior and God-man Jesus, as evident by jamie Foxx and now by a gallery in Boston.
The painting by Michael D’Antuono features President Obama posed as Jesus Christ crucified on the cross and is part of a larger exhibit called “Artists on the Stump – the Road to the White House 2012.” It’s on display at theBunker Hill Community College Art Gallery until Dec. 15th.
And yes I realize that the artist is probably expressing the current distorted view of the President by his fervrent supporters, however I still cannot help but feel as if this theme of Obama as "savior" runs deeper than most understand.
