Opponents of gun control have been given another shot of purpose in the aftermath of the deadly shooting ramgage at Sandy Hook Elementary School.  

Many Americans including this author agrees that there are certain guns that do not need to be in the hands of regular citizens and those include auto matic and semi-automatic weapons, and those used in theaters of war.  However to try and place a ban on owning guns based upon random acts of murder is overreacting in the opinion of many.

What IF all guns were outlawed, no, better yet, removed from society...would murder end on the planet? Would peace reign?  Or, would humans find other ways to kill each other?  And where do we stop with the "outlawing" of things that people can use to kill with?  Are there any other options that we can explore as a nation to help combat gun violence?

(Sidebar: Nancy Lanza liked guns. The mother of the young man who killed 26 people in Connecticut and herself was a victim of his rampage collected guns and took her son target shooting, according to her people who knew her. Lanza “prepared for the worst,” former sister-in-law Marsha Lanza told the Chicago Sun-Times. “I didn’t know that they [the guns] would be used on her.” Authorities have said that the guns used in Newtown were registered to Nancy Lanza, though they are not sure how many she owned in all.)
