Serena's Gold Tarnished So Says Some In The Mainstream Media

You've gotta either love or hate the mainstream media for the way that they approach a story and the "treatment" thereof.  Case in point, supposedly Serena Williams record tying gold medal victory at the 30th Olympiad was marred by a silly little dance that she performed after the victory.

The dance in question is called "the Crip walk",  "a funky little hip-hop dance move made famous by Crip gang members in Compton in the 1970s."  One insensitive writer had the audacity to suggest that her dance could be interpreted in one of only two ways:  As a stupid and insensitive celebration that dampened the crowning moment, or as a joy-filled nod to her roots.  Oh did he mention that the woman who grew up in Compton and probably did the Crip Walk at numerous parties and dances?

How ridiculous!  You've gotta read Reid Forgrave's crazy article on msn.foxsports.com and see if you agree that the dance has been taken way out of context by a writer who appears to be frightened by gangs and unaware of popular Black culture.
