Dr. O's Healthcare Waivers (Can I Get One Of Those?)

Posted by Red Kingman on

The Obama administration has been providing full or partial waivers to individuals and entities since the passing of the massive healthcare bill back in March of last year. However, on Tuesday the administration agreed to provide a partial waiver to a state for the first time, and the recipient of this action was the state of Maine.

Over the past year, the Obama administration has granted full or partial waivers to political partners, including numerous waivers to unions and community agencies such as ACORN.  This new change in the waiver program will open the door for more states to apply for waivers using economic consideration as the primary reason, and maybe give more fuel to the lawsuits being brough by a number of states over the unconstitutionality of the health care law.
The Healthcare reform bill was touted and pushed through Congress against the will of the American people because it was to be a promise of universal healthcare, and that all would be required to be under its umbrella.  With the Obama administration allowing waivers to the program before it has even been implemented, it appears to ME the underlying reason for passing the bill has been eradicated.  Do you agree?
