No Leg To Stand On

Thats the truth when it comes to Daryl Turner of Oakland, California when his prosthetic leg was stolen from his front yard on February 12.

So why would someone steal his artificial leg with an Oakland Raiders design on it?
That's what Darryl Turner wants to know.  On Feb. 12, the Oakland, Calif., resident took his leg off and left it behind his front gate while he took a ride around the block on a four-wheeler. By the time he returned home, the prosthetic had vanished.

A motorcycle accident took Turner's own leg, and a previous prosthesis doesn't fit anymore. He also can't afford the $7,500 cost of replacing his new one, which he's only had for two months.

And Turner isn't able to use crutches because his left arm is paralyzed, so he filed a report with the Oakland Police Department and sent a hand-written letter to a local television station looking for help to retrieve his prosthesis.

"It feels like I lost my leg all over again. My limb. My actual limb," he said. "And I don't understand what they're going to do with it."
