REDS FEBRUARY TRIP UPDATE 4

DAY FOUR:

Today was another wonderful day in San Diego. I found that I was restless this morning at about 3am which would have been about the time I would be starting the second hour of Reds Place. Sleeping late is just not something I can do too easily, but come 9pm if I haven't had a nap it's Z's out of the mouth time for yours truly! I have been listening to San Diego radio, in particular the morning shows and what I have found is that they really don't care about the listener. There was no entertainment, no real laughs, DEFINITELY no local content whatsoever, and a kind of detachment that makes me wonder about the future of terrestrial radio. I am blessed to have "listener friends" who I am engaged with, with whom I share a special bond with, and that I work for a company that is still committed to serving the communities that they broadcast to. That concept is completely lost in this city.

Dan and I were invited to breakfast by Mary Ellen who have heard or can listen to on my show Thursdays at 7:50 from Life Services Systems. She is in San Diego with her Husband visiting her daughter who owns a small cafe. Naturally my teen Son who stays up until 2am nightly didn't wake up, so I went alone. The food was delicious and filling, and everyone, me, Mary Ellen, her husband and his Daughter enjoyed the meal. We parted ways and I headed back to the hotel. While I was at the restaurant Dan called and asked if we could change rooms to one that had a marina view. I told him it might cost more, but that he should ask the desk clerk if we could upgrade at the same rate since we haven't been home/San Diego for ten years and would be leaving Monday. Tell her that we decided to stay another night here because they have such a nice hotel (it is nice for a discount hotel). She was gracious enough to give us the upgrade and that made Daniels day! He really wanted a room with a balcony and he even got a little view for us.

After the room switch we went over to my parents apartment and hung out for a little while. My Mother was having a bad morning so we didn't stay too long. Dan and I headed back to the hotel but not before stopping for more rolled tacos, this time from Roberto's! By the time we got back to the room I was feeling tired as my body is still on Michigan time and so it felt like it was 3pm and that is my nap time if and when I can get them at home. So Dan went alone back to Mission Beach to ride that roller coaster and I took a nap. Old man, I know. When he got back we again went to my parents place and my Mother was doing much better and was excited to see Dan and I. We had more good conversations and she had a chance to talk to Ebony and Judy today, so that was good.

Now Dan and I are going to meet up with my brother and his wife and Son Cameron after dinner, but won't stay too long as we will see them tomorrow for my Fathers Birthday.

Hope you all have been doing good. I miss you terribly...
