This morning as I woke up from a sound nights sleep in at Cleveland hotel I looked forward to the short drive before me, knowing that most of the snow and storms were behind me. Drinking my coffee thinking about seeing Judy and Ebony after four days away from home brought a huge smile to my face. As I sat there sipping my farmers Brothers brew reading my newspaper I came across a story that brought almost as big a smile to my face as thinking about seeing my family.
On Monday U.S. District Judge Henry Hudson ruled that the provision in the new law that forces individuals to purchase health care insurance is unconstitutional. The decision, which complicates the law's full implementation, puts the case on a path to the Supreme Court. The White House, however, has indicated that the Department of Justice first will try to appeal Hudson's decision. Well duh, of course they will, but how cool that the ruling was made, paving the way for this wholly unconstitutional law to go all the way to the Supreme Court.
Right now it's government mandated health care. What could be next? Government mandated dental care? Telling me that I have to choose a particular vehicle, or the kind of dwelling I can purchase, or if I will be permitted to purchase? And how man Americans will be ignorant of this possibility and only see the supposed "need" and "benefits" of said law. How many more of your constitutional rights must be lost to "need" before we all wake up?!!?
