Here's a news flash: Mexicans are afraid of 2010. And here I thought everyone was more worried about 2012 what with the Myan calendar ending in that year and that block buster movie from the summer of 2009, "2012"! I just wonder why would anyone, Mexicans included be worried about 2010?

Well, for our neighbors to the south, perhaps the answer lies in the fact that Mexico has seen upheval every 100 years beginning with the start of Mexico's bloody, decade-long War Of Indepencence that began in 1810. Exactly 100 years later Mexico's 1910 centennial saw the start of the bloody, decade-long Mexican Revolution, which killed more than a million people. And now here we are, 100-years later and Mexico is about to celebrate it's bicentennial and will we see yet another decade long fight...this time between the drug lords and the government? And with the North American Free Trade Agreement in place will Americans be at risk? IN AMERICA?? Did I mention that on January 1, 1994, the day that NAFTA took effect Zapatista guerillas started a revols in the poor southern state of Chiapas? It does appear that some Mexican insurrections do coincide with importand dates.
