the juke box

When I hear the name of Neil Armstrong, I think of a young astronaut taking that first step on the moon that President Kennedy had predicted many years before.  What a great day that was for America.  Now I just read about his death at age 82. Sad.

I recall that sunny Sunday afternoon. My late wife and I were at the Lake Tower Hotel across from Lake Michigan in Chicago, watching the space events on TV. Hundreds of boats were on Lake Michigan watching as well and greeted that landing with all horns blowing.  Millions of Americans watched and perhaps a few foreigners.  It should be recorded in the history books forever.  It was a time to feel poud of Americam and proud of Neil Armstrong.
