HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – The 3rd Annual Running for Recovery 5K not only raises money for mental illness, but also brings the topic to the forefront.
It’s sponsored by The Lakeshore Clubhouse. The Clubhouse is an International accredited program with the singular mission of assisting people in their recovery from mental illness and reintegration into the community.
According to Lakeshore Clubhouse, nearly one-in-five people are affected by mental illness this year. Misunderstanding and the stigma about mental illness still exists. Eighty-five to ninety-five percent of adults with serious mental illness are chronically unemployed. Treatment of mental illness continues to focus on maintenance instead of recovery.
You can help make a difference by registering for the 3rd Annual Running for Recovery 5K on August 26th. Registration starts at 8:30 a.m. and the run beings at 9:00 a.m at 490 Century Lane in Holland. The fee is $20 per person or $75 per family. You can also register online.
This year’s event wil be offically timed by Michiana Timing Company.
The event is sponsored by Gentex, Lakeshore Family Chiropractic and Gazelle Sports.
