WHATS HAPPENING TO THE DOMESTIC OIL SUPPLY?

THE OIL COMPANIES ARE DOING THE ROLLER COASTER AGAIN WITH GAS PRICES.  WE HAD THE IMPRESSION WE WERE ON HE WAY DOWN AND AFTER THE PRESIDENT WAS SWORN IN AGAIN WE ARE DOOMED MORE MARKET FLUCTUATIONS.  THIS OF COURST HURTS THE MIDDLE CLASS MORE THAN ANYONE.  EVERYTHING WE USE COME IN BY TRUCK AND COSTS MORE TO HAUL HERE.  THOSE WHO ARE WORKING ARE THE ONES WHO PAY THE HIGHER PRICE TO TRAVEL TO WORK, SO WE CAN EARN THE MONEY TO PAY THE TAXES SO THOSE WHO CHOOSE TO BE ON THE DOLE CAN HAVE THEIR BENEFITS.

WHEN ENOUGH GET IN THE WAGON, NO ONE WILL BE LEFT TO PULL THE WAGON.

PLANNED OBSOLESCEBCE IS NOT A NEW IDEA--

GOD ALWAYS USED IT WITH PEOPLE.

WE WIL BE EXPERIENCING A SUMANI OF NEW TAXES AS OBAMACARE TAKES OVER OUR MEDICAL CARE.  JAN 1 MARKED THE BEGINNING OF A 2.3% MEDICAL DEVICE TAX ON ITEMS SUCH AS REPLACEMENT HIP PART, HEART VALVES AND MANY OTHERS.  20I3 WILL GIVE YOU AN OPPORTUNITY TO LOOK OVER WHAT YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBE FOR BEGINNING IN 2014.  MUCH OF THE INCREASE WILL BE BORNE BY THE MIDDLE CLASS.

PERHAP THE BRUHAHA ON GUNS HAS BEEN PUT ON THE FRONT BURNER TO HIDE WHAT IS COMING ON OUR TAX BILL.

IS THE GAME OVER NOW?  I WAS JUST STARTING TO ENJOY GROUNGHOG DAY, WHEN I WAS INTERUPTED BY A FOOTBALL GAME.  WHO WON?   I HAVE NEVER BEEN A FAN OF FOOTBALL.  I GOT A FOOTBALL FOR CHRISTMAS WHEN I WAS A KID AND THE THING WOULD NOT GO STRAIGHT.  THEY TOLD ME THATS THE WAY A FOOTBALL WORKS.

I RECALL THE WINTER OF 45 WHEN I WAS IN RADIO SCHOOL IN SIOUX FALLS, S. DAK.  WE HAD EIGHTEEN INCHES OF SNOW ON THE GROUND AND THE PHYSICAL ED. INSTRUCTOR WANTED US TO PLAY TOUCH FOOTBALL.  IF YOU DIDN'T CATCH THE BALL, IT WAS LOST UNTIL SPRING.  DUMB GAME, DUMB INSTRUCTOR!  WE LOST TWO BALLS UNTIL HE CALLED IT QUITS.

YOU'RE ONLY YOUNG ONCE, BUT YOU CAN ALWAYS BE IMMATURE.  ENJOY THE DAY!

JOHN KENEDY SAID, "ITS NOT WHAT YOU COUNTRY CAN DO FOR YOU, BUT WHAT YOU CAN DO FOR YOUR COUNTRY."

THATS WHY I  BELIEVE WE SHOULD ALWAYS PATRONIZE AMERICAN COMPANIES LIKE GM AND FORD WHEN WE BUY A CAR.  THOSE COMPANIES HELPED BUILD THE MIDDLE CLASS IN THIS COUNTRY. CAN YOU IMAGINE WHAT THE AMERICAN ECONOMY WOULD BE LIKE IF THOSE FOREIGN CARS HAD NEVER CROSSED TO THIS COUNTRY AND EVERYONE WAS DRIVING AN AMERICAN BRAND?

WHEN CHARLIE WILSON WAS CEO OF GM, HE SAID, " WHAT'S GOOD FOR GENERAL MOTORS IS GOOD FOR THE USA."  THAT IS STILL TRUE TODAY.  FOREIGN CARS HAVE THEIR PRIMARY LOYALTY TO THEIR HOME COUNTRY.  REGARDLESS OF WHERE THEY ARE BUILT.

FORD, GM AND SOME CHRYSLER ARE INVESTING LARGELY IN THE USA AND CREATING AMERICAN JOBS.  LETS HELP WITH OUR POCKETBOOKS.  YOU MAY HELP YOUR NEIGHBOR GET BACK TO WORK.

THE GRAND RAPIDS AUTO SHOW IS ON NOW.  GO PICK OUT A NEW CAR.

    WRITE YOUR CONGRESSMAN!!!!

NOW THAT SHOULD ALSO INCLUDE YOUR CONGRESSWOMAN AS WELL AS YOUR STATE LEGISLATOR.  I HAVE WRITTEN OUR SEN. DEBBIE STABENOW FOR YEARS AND SHE WROTE BACK MANY TIMES.  I THINK SHE IS TIRED OF MY LETTERS NOW--SHE HAS STOPPED ANSWERING MY LETTERS.

THOSE WHO REPRESENT YOU IN THE CONGRESS AND THE STATE LEGESLATURE DO WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU.  I HEAR MANY COMPLAIN, BUT DO YOU LET THE PEOPLE KNOW WHO CAN DO SOMETHING ABOUT THE PROBLEMS.

YOU CAN FIND THE ADDRESS IN YOUR PHONE BOOKS (BLUE PAGE) OR WEEKLY IN YOU DAILY NEWSPAPER.  EMAILS WORK VERY WELL IF YOU HAVE A COMPUTER.  USUALLY JUST TYPING THE NAME OF THE PERSON IN YOUR BROWSER, WILL BRING UP HIS OR HER ADDRESS.

THEY ARE USING YOUR MONEY.  TELL THEM HOW YOU WANT THEM TO USE IT.

LAST WEEK THOUSANDS OF MARCHERS WERE OUT TO PROTEST THE ROE V WADE DECISION, YET THEY DID NOT RECEIVE A MENTION ON ABC OR NBC, HOWEVER BOTHE NETWORSKS DEVOTED A PUNY ANTI-GUN RALLY ATTENDED BY LESS THAN A THOUSAND PEOPLE.

I FAIL TO UNDERSTAND WHY THE NEWS MEDIA DOES NOT COVER ALL THE NEWS?  IS IT TO PROTECT THE ACTIONS OR INACTION OF THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION?

I HAVE BEEN READING A BOOK ABOUT OUR THIRTY-NINTH PRSIDENT--REMEMBER JIMMY CARTER?  ONE TERM, BECAUSE HE WAS GOING TO BRING THE PEOPLE BACK IN THE LOOP THAT WAS THE BELTWAY.  EVENTUALLY, HE FAILED, BECAUSE THE BELTWAY IS A GROUP THAT SURVIVES, DESPITE THE EFFORTS OF THOSE WHO TRY TO CHANGE IT.

DURING CARTERS TERM, HE DID ACCOMPLISH THE CAMP DAVID ACCORDS WHICH ESTABLISHED PEACE BETWEEB EGYPT AND ISRAEL.  LOOKS LIKE WE BLEW THAT ONE.  WE ARE ABOUT AS FAR FROM PEACE THERE TODAY AS WE WERE IN 1948. ARE WE BRIBING THE WRONG PEOPLE OVER THERE?  CARTER ALSO HANDLED THE PANAMA CANAL TREATIES, THE SALTII TREATIES WITH THE SOVIETS, THE ALASKA LANDS ACT AND ESTBLISHED DIPLOMATIC RELATIONS WITH CHINA.

CARTER'S DOWNFALL WAS DUE TO HIS EFFORTS TO FTEE THE AMERICAN PRISONERS IN THE EMBASSY IN IRAN,  THE MISSION FAILED AND RESULTED IN THE DEATH OF THOSE WHO MADE THE EFFORT.  I GIVE HIM CREDIT FOR TRYING.  HAD IT SUCCEEDED, HE MIGHT HAVE ENJOYED ANOTHER TERM. MANY HAVE SAID, JIMMY CARTER DID NOT FIT IN WASHINGTON.  PERHAPS WASHINTON, IS JUST UNFIT FOR AMERICA.

HUP, TWO, THREE, FOUR,  LINE UP GIRLS, WE'RE OFF TO WAR.

The new army will be different.  I would think a lot of problems will arise, but I'm sure the chiefs of staff have it all figured out.  Will the sexes train together.  IT WOULD BE HARD TO HAVE A good organization any other way.  What about pregnancy.  During WWII, that was a ticket home.  In the field toilet facilities, His and Hers?  I would think the old slit tench works for both.  I have a lot of questions, does anypne have the any answers.  I guess the motto will be, MAKE LOVE, NOT WAR.  Not bad.  Lets start drafting the girls.

I HAVE ALWAYS LIKED AUTOMOBILES AND I HAVE OWNED JUNKERS, CLUNKERS, OLD AND NEW.  AT AN EARLY AGE, ONE OF MY FRIENDS AND I WORKED ON CARS, JUST TO KEEP THEM GOING.  WE WOULD RUN THE FRONT WHEELS UP ON A COUPLE BALES OF HAY AND GET UNDER THE FRONT END, DROP THE PAN AND GO TO WORK, PUTTING IN RINGS ROD BEARINGS AND WHATEVER ELSE IT NEEDED.  GET IT ALL TOGETHER AND RIDE FOR AWHILE AFTER PUTTING IN SOME OIL, OF COURSE.  SINCE MONEY WAS SCARCE, WE USED CHEAP OIL.  IT SEEM LIKE WE DID SOMETHING WRONG BECAUSE FREQUENTLY WE WERE REPEATING THE EFFORT.  ITS NOW SIMPLER TODAY, BUT ITS A LOT MORE EXPENSIVE.  THE LAST CAR I REPLACED ROD BEARINGS ON WAS A 1937 LINCOLN V12.

ON ALL THE NEW CARS I BOUGHT, I WOULD HAVE TO RATE A 1982 STUDEBAKER LARK TOPS. GOOD MILEAGE, LOTS OF ROOM INSIDE, BUT NOT GREAT ON THE RESALE. MY LARK COST ME $2650,00 A YEAR LATER STUDEBAKER WENT OUT OF BUSINESS, EXCEPT FOR THE AVANTI MODEL.  IT WAS ALWAYS FUN GETTING A NEW CAR AND I DID IT FOR SEVERAL YEARS RUNNING. TODAYS CARS ARE TOO EXPENSIVE FOR ME, SO I BUY A GOOD USED ONE WITH SOME OF THE NEAT AMENITIES ON IT.  THE FIRST NEW CAR I BOUGHT WAS A 1960 CHEVY CORVAIR, A FUN CAR WHICH I DROVE THOUSANDS OF MILES DESPITE RALPH NADERS THOUGHTS ON THE CAR.

YES, I TRIED A FOREIGN CAR--AN ENGLISH FORD--GOOD CAR BUT TO SMALL FOR A GROWING FAMILY.  ONE OTHER FORAY INTO FOREIGN CARS WAS A CHEVY LUV PICK-UP MADE IN JAPAN.  RUST PROBLEMS PROMPTED ME TO TRADE IT IN ON SOMETHING AMERICAN.

FROM A 1929 MODEL A FORD PANEL DELIVERY TO MY PRESENT OLDER LOW MILEAGE BUICK, THERE HAVE BEEN 40 CARS IN MY LIFE.    ENOUGH?  I MIGHT CONSIDER ANOTHER FOREIGN CAR AS SOON AS I CAN AFFORD A BENTLY.

Thousands on the East Coast are still without power as a result of the Sandy storm. Can you imagine what its like to not have power after you are accostumed to using it for years to do so many tasks around the house?

I got a good taste of a powerless existance in 1956 after an ice storm which left us with out heat, light or the ability to cook.  With three kids, we dug out the kerosene lamps  and a lot of blankets. The outside temperature did not drop to the point where we had to be concerned about pipes freezing and there was enough pressure in the water tank to take us through the three daysw when Consumers Power got us back on line.

On another occasion the entire town of Saugatuck was dark for many hours.  At that time I as mayor, called the Power Company office and told them it was a matter of public safety.  Than did not seem to have any effect on the priorty of my request.  We just waited until they had us back on line.

In the twelve years, I have lived in my present location in the city of Holland, i have been without power once and then for only an hour.  the BPW does an excellant job of getting service to the customers when there is a problem.
