WE NOW HAVE THOUSANDS OF ILLEGALS  (RECENTLY SET LOOSE) ROAMING AROUND TDHE COUNTRY AND TEN THOUSAND LAW ENFORCEMENT PERSONNEL ROUNDING THEM UP.  IS THIS A REAL COST CUTTING OPERATION?  JANET NAPOLITANO, WHEN SHE WAS GOVENOR OF ARIZONA, PRESSURED THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT TO DO ITS JOB REGARDING ILLEGAL ALIENS IN THAT STATE AND NOW SHE IS REALEASING THEM IN DROVES.  SEN. MCCAIN SAID SOME OF THOSE RELAEASED MAY HAVE BEEN CONVICED OF SERIOUS CRIMES AND IS DEMANDING INFORMATION ON THE DETAILS ON THEIR CRIMINAL RECORDS.

MANY OF THOSE REALEASED STILL FACE DEPORTATION AND ARE REQUIRED TO APPEAR FOR FUTURE COURT HEARINGS.  THESE COURTS ARE SO BACKLOGGED THAT THE HEARINGS MAY BE SET FOR TEN YEARS HENCE.  CAN'T WE JUST OPEN UP THE FENCE AND SAY "SHOO?"

So now we are in sequester.  You may have heard the laundry list of the dire things that will be happening to the country and to Americans.  So far it is not much of a train wreck.

There is a lot of finger pointing in the blame game.  Obama did it because he would not compromise on tax increases. Republicans are being dogmatic in defense of rich people, or the Democrats did it because they are cocky and intent on destroying the country, or a small group of GOP lawmakers are holding out because they're spoiled and don't want to share the playground.

Meanwhile a lot of good people who just want to go to work each day are stressed out because our government can't do something basic like how to spend money on an annual basisd

Perhaps we should convene Congress aboard the curise ship Triumph, give 'em an open bar and some Spam.  I'm sure they will get use to the smell, or they may not notice it at all.

    MARCH MADNESS

ITS THAT PART OF THE SEASON WE CALL "MARCH MADNESS" AND THE HIGHSCHOOL BASKETBALL TEAMS WILL PLAY UNTIL EIGHT TEAMS WILL WIND UP IN LANSING OR ANN ARBOR FOR THE PLAYOFFS.  FANS WHO GET TO THE GAMES WILL SEE SOME REALLY GREAT BASKETBALL AND MANY FUTURE STARS IN ACTION.

FOR A NUMBER OF YEARS I WAS PART TO THE WHTC CREW THAT WENT TO THE STATE FINALS. IF ONE OF OUR LOCAL TEAMS WAS IN THE RUNNING, WE WOULD GO UP ON FRIDAY NIGHT AND BROADCAST THE SEMI-FINALS. TWO BREAKS IN THE ACTION SATURDAY WOULD ALLOW THE THOUSANDS OF FANS TO RUSH OUT AND PATRONIZE THE SURROUNDING EATERIES, GULP DOWN SOME FOOD AND RETURN FOR THE NEXT GAMES.  A GOOD BROADCAST WAS ASSURED BY THE PRESENCE OF A TELEPHONE COMPANY TECNICIAN IN THE BOOTHS.  IT WAS MORE FUN WHEN WE COULD BRING HOME A VICTORY WITH ONE OF OUR LOCAL TEAMS. BY THE TIME WE ARRIVED BACK IN HOLLAND IT WOULD BE AFTER MIDNIGHT, BUT WHAT A DAY OF SPORTS WE HAD.

A 4 MILLIMETER KIDNEY STONE CREATES AN EMERGENCY AT 4 AM.  THATS WHAT HAPPENED AT OUR HOUSE LAST WEEK WHEN MY WIFE HAD A SUDDEN HORRENDOUS PAIN.  I AM N0 STRANGER TO KIDNEY STONES SINCE EXPERIENCING SIX OR SEVEN OF THEM IN MY LIFETIME.  IT WAS TIME FOR THE ER.  FORTUNATELY THE URINARY TRACT DOCTOR CAME IN SHORTLY.  HE HAD ANOTHER SURGERY THAT MORNING, SO AGREED TO PERFORM A "STONECTOMY" WHICH SOLVED THE PROBLEM.  A DAY IN THE HOSPITAL IS NO FUN, BUT WE ARRIVED BACK HOME IN LATE AFTERNOON.  SHE IS RESTING COMFORTABLY AND WILL SOON BE UP TO HER OLD SELF.

THE SEQUESTRATION HAS BEEN ENACTED AND AFTER THE PRESIDENTS SIGNATURE WAS COMPLETED, THE REPRISALS BEGAN.  JANET NAPOLITANO SAID WE WOULD RELEASE SOME OF THE ILLEGALS TO SAVE MONEY.  GREAT THINKING!  IT SHOULD KEEP SOME OF OUR LAW ENFORCEMENT PEOPLE BUSY SOLVING CRIMES AND ROUNDING THEM UP AGAIN.  SOME OF OUR BORDER PATROL AGENTS WILL BE FURLOUGHED TO MAKE IT EASIER TO GET MORE ILLEGALS IN.  OF COURSE OUR MILITARY WILL BE AFFECTED  WITH EQUIPMENT THAT IS IN NEED OF REPAIR.  THE TRAINING, IF ANY WILL BE JUST SO-SO.  WATCH FOR MORE IN THE DAYS TO COME.

ALL WORKING PEOPLE TOOK A 2% TAX INCREASE.  WHY CAN'T THE GOVERERNMENT ADJUST WITH THE CHANGE?

OVER THE PAST FEW YEARS, MANY SERVICE PERSONNEL HAVE RETURNED HOME AND BACK TO THE HOLLAND AREA.  IF YOU ARE ONE OF THOSE, I WOULD URGE YOU TO CONTACT ONE OF THE SERVICE RELATED CLUBS IN THE AREA.  WE HAVE ENOUGH TO ABSORB EVERYONE, I'M SURE.  CHECK ON LINE FOR PLACES LIKE THE AMERICAN LEGION, THE VFW OR ONE OF THE MORE RECENTLY FORMED ONES.  YOU WILL FIND PEOPLE YOU CAN TALK TO, INFORMATION ABOUT VETERANS SERVICES AND INFORMATION ABOUT VA SERVICES.  AS AN OLD VET, I STILL BELONG TO THE LEGION AND THE DADS OF VETERANS CLUBS.  YOU CAN BE AS ACTIVE AS YOU WANT TO BE.  WELCOME AND HAPPY HOMECOMING!!

ROSA PARKS LOOKED LIKE SOMEBODYS GRANDMOTHER, BUT SHE ACCOMPLISHED SOMETHING THAT OTHERS COULD NOT DO WITH SPEECHES.  WEDNESDAY SHE WAS HONORED WITH A STATUE IN THE CAPITOL BUILDING IN WASHINGTON.  THIS QUIET LADY JUST REFUSED TO GIVE UP HER SEAT IN THE WHITE AREA OF THE BUS AND BROUGHT ABOUT A CHANGE WHICH AFFECTED NOT ONLY THE BUS SEATING IN ALABAMA, BUT THE ENTIRE SOUTH.  SHE WAS NOT TIRED, BUT SHE WAS TIRED OF INJUSTICE.

WHEN I WAS STATIONED IN THE SOUTH A FRIEND AND I GOT ON A CITY BUS AND DILIBERATELY SAT IN THE LAST TWO SEATS IN THE BLACK SECTION OF THE BUS. WHEN TWO BLACK LADIES GOT ON, THEY SAW WE WERE SITTING THERE AND STOOD AND LOOKED AT US AS IF TO SAY, "YOURE SITING IN OUR SEATS AND WE CAN'T SIT IN THE FRONT."  WE CHANGED OUR SEATS.  WE SHOULD ALL BE PROUD OF ROSA PARKS.

    FORD

THE LAST BOOK I READ WAS CALLED SIMPLY "FORD."  IT IS THE STORY OF THE FORD MOTOR COMPANY FROM HENRY'S QUADRACYCLE TO 1986.  IT GIVES THE READER INSIGHT INTO THE PERSONALITY DETERMINED YOUNG INVENTOR TO THE CRUST OLD EXECUTIVE. HENRY WAS CERTAIN THAT THE MODEL "T" WOULD LAST THE BUYER A LIFETIME AND HE MANUFACTURED MILLIONS OF THEM. HE WAS MISTAKEN BUT HE WAS RELUCTANT TO CHANGE MODELS.  THE BOOK TELLS ABOUT ALL THE INFIGHTING BETWEEN THE FAMILY AND PEOPLE THAT HENRY HIRED,  IT ALSO RELATES THE LIFETIME DIFFERENCES BETWEEN HENRY AND HIS SON EDSEL. THEN HENRY II TOOK OVER AND HE MADE MANY CHANGES DESPITE HIS FAMILY DISCORD AND HIS ALCOHOL PROBLEM.  ALL IN ALL I REALLY ENJOYED THE BOOK.  APPARENTLY THE COMPANY IS NOW DOING WELL DESPITE THE MANY YEARS OF DISCORD THAT MAKE A GOOD STORY.

The Chicken Littles in Washington are having conniptions over the thought of having to make some spending cuts.  The cuts authored by the President are on a road to being  allowed to stand by the Republican led House.  Its called Sequestration.

If we don't make mandatory cuts in the bulging deficit, we likely will go on spending at the same rate until we bankrupt the country.  Nancy Pelosi of course will insist we do not have a spending problem.  Actually the cut will be minisculeat 2.36 percent.  Even with the tax increases, we will have to borrow ampther trillion this year to keep writing all those government checks

The Senate is dicussing background checks for the purchase of any gun.

Two senators , Coburn, a Republican and Schumer, a Democrat are leading the fray to require checks on any purchase or a possible "new guns only<' requirement.  Will long guns be included and will gun shows be included?  Where would the records be kept? Many feel a gun purchase from a friend or neighbor, should not require the person require a background check and should the seller be required to keep the records forever?  It will all probably end up with a modified bill and lower record keeping rules.  I hope they keep it simple so we can understand it. Will BB gun purchases require a background check?

    THE GUN SITUATION
Senator Coburn,(r) and Senator Schumer are in "near" agreement over bckground checks for the purchase ofa a weapon.  Any gun purchase would require a background check be on file.  A question arises on where the records should be kept, and if a neighbor sells  gun to the man next door, should the neighbor conduct a backgoumnd check and keep the record in a safe place?  It all becomes a little rediculous. The result may be a modidfication of the background check and require it from gun dealers only.  I assume that would mean gun shows as well.
