It has been under discussion for some time, but Washington is finally taking some action which will affect all of us. Advocates of an effort to help states collect taxe on internet sales won a symbolic victory last week in the U.S, Senate where it met with solid bipartisan support. Tjhe vote was only a show of hands, but it was indicative of a possible victory if the Senate puts a bill together, it would probably win.
Obviosly not paying tax on these purchases, puts these merchants at an advantage. As it is now, states with a sales tax, on line buyers are supposed to declare and pay the tax but this is seldom enforced. Do you report and pay on purchases you make on line?
