The Hope College women's soccer team landed second in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Preseason Coaches Poll.
The Flying Dutch claimed one first-place vote and totaled 15 points in the poll released on Thursday, August 14. They trailed unanimous preseason favorite and 2013 MIAA champion Calvin College.

Hope is coming off a 2013 season in which the Flying Dutch posted a 16-4-1 overall record and tied for the second most wins in school history. Hope went 12-3-1 in MIAA play and finished third.
Four senior co-captains will lead the Flying Dutch team this fall: forward Lindsay Bieri of Holland, Michigan (Holland Christian HS), midfielder Erin Jipping of Holland, Michigan (West Ottawa HS), forward Nora Kirk of Maumee, Ohio (Notre Dame Academy) and defender Courtney Schmidt of Lowell, Michigan (Lowell HS).
Hope kicks off the 2014 season on Friday, August 29 with a match at Wheaton (Ill.) College.
The Flying Dutch's home opener is Monday, September 8, against Albion College.
