Hope Claims Record 35th MIAA Commissioner's Cup All-Sports Trophy

Hope College has claimed the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Commissioners Cup All-Sports Championship for a league-record 35th time.

Hope totaled 211 points in mens and womens varsity sports during the 2013-14 school year to finish two points ahead of runner-up Calvin College.

The MIAA Commissioners Cup award is based on the cumulative performance of each member school in the leagues 20 sports for men and women. The final Commissioners Cup standings are determined on the basis of each colleges standings in eight of 10 sports for men and eight of 10 sports for women.

It is the third time in four years Hope has won the Commissioners Cup. Hope also earned it in 2011-12 and 2010-11.

Hope topped the 2013-14 Mens All-Sports Standings with 98 points and finished second in the 2013-14 Womens All-Sports Standings with 113 points.

In mens sports, Hope won MIAA championships in golf and basketball and was runner-up in cross country, football, soccer, swimming & diving, tennis and track & field. Hope also placed third in baseball and lacrosse.

In womens sports, Hope claimed MIAA titles in basketball and volleyball and finished second in cross country, swimming & diving, softball, tennis and track & field. Hope also took third in womens soccer and fifth in golf and lacrosse.
