HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Jul. 31, 2026) – A three-vehicle pileup in downtown Holland on Friday afternoon killed one motorist and hospitalized another.
According to Department of Public Safety Police Services, around 3 PM, a westbound pickup truck on East 7th Street was hit by a southbound SUV at Central Avenue, and then careened into a westbound electric sedan. The drivers of the truck and SUV – a 27-year-old Dorr man and an 83-year-old Holland man, respectively – were taken to Holland Hospital, where the older motorist died in the emergency room. The extent of the injuries to the pickup driver were not disclosed. The driver of the sedan, a 35-year-old Wyoming woman, along with an unidentified passenger in her vehicle were not hurt. No names were disclosed.
An autopsy will be performed at Corewell-Blodgett Hospital to determine the cause of death of the Holland man. Witnesses told police that the speed of the pickup may have contributed to the crash, which remains under investigation.
