POLKTON TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, May 9, 2024) – No humans were hurt after a barn fire at a dairy farm north of Coopersville overnight.
First responders were dispatched to the area of 56th Avenue and Beaver Creek Drive around 10:20 PM on Wednesday evening on a report of a blaze breaking out at a large agricultural building, with cows still inside. When crews from six local fire departments arrived, they saw the owner, employees and neighbors already working to herd the animals out and corral them safely. As the flames were then brought under control, a number of the bovines were kept at a distance.
There was no word as to whether any cows were killed as a result of the fire, or any immediate determination as to a cause of the blaze, as the incident remains under investigation.
