GEORGETOWN TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – Three persons were injured from a two-vehicle crash just west of the Ottawa/Kent county line in Jenison on Saturday evening (June 5, 2021).
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Michael Hallmeyer, deputies were dispatched to Baldwin Street near Mill Avenue, west of the exit ramp from westbound I-196, around 6:50 PM. A westbound SUV had came off of the ramp and veered into the eastbound lanes, colliding with another SUV. “One occupant (was) pinned in and one vehicle (was) leaking fuel,” Hallmeyer said in a department statement.
A 60-year-old Hudsonville woman driving the westbound vehicle, and two Grand Rapids residents in the eastbound vehicle – a 60-year-old man driving the SUC and a 62-year-old female passenger – were all taken to Spectrum-Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
Hallmeyer added that, “Alcohol does not appear to be a factor (in the crash, but) it appears (that) the driver of (the westbound vehicle) may have experienced a medical incident which contributed to this crash,” as the incident remains under investigation.
